During a conversation I had recently with the mom of a new model we are going to work with, something she said just reconfirmed the complete childishness that plagues the photography world.

The subject of our chat...was flakes; those oh-so-annoying people who schedule time with you and then do not show up. Usually due to a sudden, tragic illness of a loved one or the unexplainable shrinking of a beloved pet.

Mom told me that her daughter had a shoot scheduled with a photographer in order to fill out her portfolio.  Seemingly, at the very last minute the photog....the 'guy-with-camera', cancels because his girlfriend was jealous.

What?

Unless one confines oneself to landscape or pet photography, one thing that is a given in the life of a photographer, is that our work environment involves beautiful women; constantly. It's a terrible thing to cope with yes, but the work must continue! ;o)

I don't know what confused me more here; the fact that the 'guy-with-camera' flaked on this girl because his girlfriend was jealous - or that someone wanting to be a photographer and work with models would even date a jealous girl to begin with! To me that's like having severe allergies to animal hair and getting a job at the zoo! You're begging for misery and unnecessary suffering.

Oh well, good luck  'guy-with-camera' where ever you are.
